As much as we may all, like to wish things were better, simpler, easier or fairer the truth is that if we want change, we need to make it happen.
In a time when we can do anything, it is time for us all to do something. No longer can we afford to say; ‘It’s not my problem’ or ‘who cares’.
Although, the idea of being able to change the world, may seem a little out of our reach or comfort zone, the reality is, the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs), present each and every one of us, with an opportunity to get involved and be part of a solution that will see us secure a sustainable future, not just for us, but for mankind...
The future really is in our hands and it requires a new way of thinking, that will require us to put aside our egos to work for the common good, sharing our knowledge and skills to find new and innovative solutions that address many of the world's most pressing issues and create a world where no man, woman or child is left behind and where all life has equal value.
The reality is we are all capable of great things, we just need to stop wishing, thinking dreaming and just start doing. And, like everything it starts when you take the first step.
So what will you do today to help ensure that we all have a brighter tomorrow.

FIVE WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
1: Volunteer - Giving up our time to help others, is not just a great thing we can all do, but it is one way we can all help to create a more caring, more inclusive community, where everyone feels valued.
And contrary to popular belief, volunteering is not just about giving your time to help out in a day care centre, charity store or nursing home, it can be helping wildlife or conservation organisations with ground work, hedge laying, clearing clogged waterways beach and park clean ups. Check what's on in your area and get involved.
Volunteering isn't just about 'time', it can go further and involve 'mentorship', sharing skills and knowledge to help others to achieve their goals. In effect, volunteering is a new way of thinking that not just empowers us as volunteers but empowers others to do the same...
2: Create - If you are passionate about the great outdoors why not put some love into some unused land and start a veg cooperative. And don't forget to look after our pollinators and make room for some wildlife friendly flowers and shrubs.
3: Start - If you love to garden why not see if you can turn some unloved land in your neighbourhood into a community composting facility, herb or flower garden where everyone can benefit from fresh flowers, compost or herbs throughout the year...
4: Lonely? According to recent findings, loneliness is a global pandemic that is really bad news for our health and well being and, it is not just something that affects the elderly as more and more of our youth report feeling socially excluded and alone.
So, let's put down our electronic gadgets and gizmos and do something that brings people together and start a community reading, singing, walking supper, or knitting club. If you need someone to talk to drop me a line and look out for my blog on #mentalhealth.
5: Fed up with stuff? Start a share shed and make use of the many power tools and things we really don't all need and why not consider sharing skills too. This is one way we can really bridge the generation gap and help develop a sense of community care.
